JOINT COMMISSION FOR PRIMARY STROKE CENTERS GIVES BOCA RATON COMMUNITY HOSPITAL GOLD SEAL OF APPROVAL

The 3rd large cause of death, about 700,000 people each year experience a new or recurrent stroke. Someone suffers a stroke every 45 seconds and someone dies of a stroke every 3.1 minutes. It is also a leading cause of long-term disability. With timing following the stroke being critical, having a Joint Commission Certified Primary Stroke Center nearby that is staffed with physicians, nurses and other health care professionals, is most welcome. The Certification is based on primary stroke center recommendations published by the Brain Attack Coalition and the American Stroke Association’s statements/guidelines for stroke care. The Join Commission was founded in 1951 and strives to continuously improve the safety and quality of care provided to the public.
